Just Announced at Rams Head Promotions

Greetings from the Ramosphere!…Ok, lame… whatever…moving on, pretend it didn’t happen.

This week we’ve got some very exciting digs for you from Naptown, to BMore and out to the Pier Six Pavilion so you can rock the docks!

First up, we are thrilled to announce the coming of Michael Franti & Spearhead with special guests The Wailers on Saturday, May 29 at the Pier Six Pavilion. This one goes on sale 2/25 @ noon. One Rams Header recently attended a Franti show and this is a small portion of that testimonial.

“It was just such a party, so much fun, he comes into the audience and dances with people, takes pictures. The man was just runnin around the verizon center with no shoes…can’t wait to see him again.”

Even more noteworthy, the music from these two acts, while highly acclaimed within the industry, is extremely attentive to global issues and concerns. Bring on equality, bring on peace and happiness, bring on relevance…just bring it.  And please, for the love of art, check out the new Wailers logo in the top left corner of their website. Beautiful.

Next up, we’ve got Landon Pigg at Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis on Tuesday, March 16. He was a shy guy from Nashville, Tennessee and, well…he’s still a shy guy from Nashville, Tennessee. He’s also mad good at Chemistry and Algebra.  He sounds like a strange character to hit the stage but don’t be fooled. This personality lends itself very well to putting on a good show and creating some very viable and poppy, singer-songwriter tunes. Check this stud out in his vid below.

Finally, at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, we’ve brought you a favorite dig that’s usually too expensive to catch the real thing. 2U: The World’s Greatest U2 Tribute hits the stage after being snowed out twice.  The stars have stopped criss-crossing and are looking to be re-ALIGNED for Saturday, April 17th.

Also Coming To Pier Six Pavilion:

7/24 – The Big Bad Voodoo Daddy opening for The Beach Boys

4/20 – Ben Harper

7/30 – Dave Koz & Jonathan Butler w/ special guest Sheila E.

Also Coming To Rams Head On Stage:

3/15 – Murder Mystery Dinner – Deadly Housewives

4/1 – Pat McGee

4/22 – Raul Malo

4/27 – the church

5/21 – Tony Levin

Just Announced From Rams Head Promotions

Heeyy! Welcome back. I hope you’re managing to keep your head above the snow piles that are now appearing in the middle of your drive way, in your driving lane, by your driver side door, living room… they’re everywhere! But we’ve book you some hot tamales to melt those blues away! (Determined to use snow references as long as they will last.)

First up, we’ve got Rams Head Live bringing you Wale with K’Naan on Saturday, April 3.  This is a big deal from the World Cup to Washington, D.C.  This is an intensely conscious and calculated bill from two rappers running the forefront right now (that are worth listening to). Be sure to check out both Wale and K’Naan’s latest LPs Attention Deficit and Troubadour, respectively.

You know K’Naan from the number one single “Wavin Flag” and oh, side note, it’s also the official song of the Fifa 2010 World Cup! How’s that for street cred? Love when people stir the right kind of waves and get the recognition for it!

And the first time you maybe saw Wale was when he hosted the side stage for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Everytime people asked, ” Hey, who was that guy running the side stage,” Wale was your man. Check out the vids below on each.

Wale with Lady GaGa.  All you Washingtonians may recognize a place or two in this vid. Wale is a local after all!

Next up, we’ve got Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis bringing you Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings on Friday, May 7. Many of you may already be familiar with her as she has recently headlined Rams Head Live in Baltimore and the 930 Club in D.C.  This is a sure fire chance to see her up close in one of the most intimate live music rooms in the world. She’s a voice you hear and you want to know more. Personally, my first experiences were the songs  ”100 Days, 100 Nights” and her take on “This Land is Your Land.” Take a listen and stir a little soul!

And last but not least… The Pier…IS HERE! Bam! B.B. King goes on sale tomorrow @ noon. How bout that?! He will be gracing us with his presence on Thursday, July 15th. You already know the life and the legend inherent here so brace yourself for the onsale tomorrow at noon! Here is the ticket link. You’re welcome.

Also Coming to Rams Head Live:
3/28 – Julian Casablancas
3/31 – The Fabulous Thunderbirds
4/16 – Frontiers
4/24 – Citizen Cope

Also Coming to Rams Head On Stage:
3/20 – Amos Lee
4/20 – Swing Out Sister
5/8 – Sia **New Date**
6/16 – Marc Broussard
7/11 – Chuck Mangoine

Spin Covers The Rise Of…..The Disco Biscuits

Check out Spin’s short Q&A with band leader and bassist Marc Brownstein! It seems constantly changing your band name for every show wasn’t the sharpest idea they’ve ever had but making music certainly was! Check out the article here. Tixs on sale for this Thursday, Feb. 18th here!

Just Announced From Rams Head Promotions

New shows up and on sale just in time for the…..::::drum roll:::::….Blizzard of the Year!

Uhhh, oh wait, we’ve already had that one. Three times actually…Well then they are up just in time for you to have some good stuff to look forward to once you get outta whatever snow pile you get stuck in!

TheWoodBrothers

Lets start you out with the toasty tones of The Wood Brothers coming to Rams Head On Stage. These two bros grew up in Boulder, CO before Chris took off to the big lights off NYC and Oliver set his sights on Atlanta. Across many miles and two separate musicla styles these boys bring it on home and have been collaborating ever since. Bringing together childhood experiences and respective journeys they hit the stage with a rootsy blend of blues, folk and rock on Thursday, March 11.

Next up at On Stage in Annapolis we’ve got legendary keyboardist, Keith Emerson & vocalist/producer Greg Lake on Monday, April 5th.  Emerson has been one of the most important figures to emerge from the thriving UK rock scene. As one of the most prominent leaders in the progressive rock movement, he’s known for fusing rock ‘n’ roll with a myriad of musical styles, such as classical, jazz and world music. A modern wizard of electronic and acoustic keyboards, most notably the organ and synthesizer. Come and appreciate the boundless exploration of a musical titan! Check out the video above for a quick glimpse at the mastery.

arcticmonkeysforweb

And at Rams Head Live we’ve got the Arctic Monkeys on Wednesday, April 7. Their rise was so swift you may have missed it but these guys distilled the sounds of Franz Ferdinand, the Clash, the Strokes, and the Libertines into a hybrid of swaggering indie rock and danceable neo-punk. They became one of the U.K.’s biggest bands of the new millennium after distributing there homemade tracks around the internet and cultivating an almost rabid fan base. Ever since they’ve been playing sold out shows from the Astoria in London to our good friends over at the 930 club in DC. If you missed one of their sold out gigs line up for the public on sale tomorrow at noon! Don’t say I didnt warn ya.

mastodonforweb

Also in the wings and ready to go on sale tomorrow for Rams Head Live, we’ve got Mastodon with Between the Buried and Me, Baroness and Valient Thorr set to tear s#*! up on Tuesday, April 20.  Talk about a massive bill! Once again this is a line-up for the on sale kind of show.

A remember to stay tuned to the Rams Head email blasts for soft-sale shows. These are the shows that are on sale but yet to be announced publicly. Shh…
