Snow Patrol goes acoustic at Rams Head On Stage!

WRNR presented another Private Artist Showcase this past Saturday with Snow Patrol at Rams Head On Stage. They are a popular alternative rock band, with members from Northern Ireland and Scotland. At the private artist showcase they left most of the band members at the hotel. Only the singer Gary Lightbody and lead guitarist/ backing vocalist, Nathan Connolly performed an acoustic set.

Originally formed in late 1994 as “Shrug”. In 1995, they changed their name to Polar Bear to avoid issues with an American band that was also named Shrug. The band again renamed, this time to Snow Patrol because of a naming conflict with another band of the same name fronted by Jane’s Addiction’s ex-bassist Eric Avery. The band’s first three records were commercially unsuccessful and were released by independent labels. When the band moved to a major record label Polydor Records, they released their 2003 album Final Straw. This was the first time the band achieved significant commercial sales, following it up with international success in 2006 when Eyes Open sold 4.7 million copies worldwide. The songs “Run”, “Chasing Cars” and “Signal Fire” are among the band’s biggest hits.

From my point of view, a music snob. I enjoyed their performance. I’m not a huge snow patrol fan. But, here and there you will see me rocking out to “Chasing Cars”. I heard the song during an emotional scene of the second season finale of the television show Grey’s Anatomy. (Yes, one of my favorite shows) The singer Gary was full of jokes throughout his performance. There was a guy sitting in the front row, his cell phone started to ring. Gary stops playing, tells the crowd,” it’s ok if your cell phone rings only if it plays in a C note”. Everyone starts to laugh.

I was amazed by Gary’s voice, lyrics and sense of humor. And, became more of fan after their show. Thanks to WRNR for bringing Snow Patrol to Rams Head. Hopefully, I will see them again soon!

*New* Menu brings excitement to the shore….

Yesterday was just a Wednesday to most. Not to the Rams Head Shore House. The Managers, Chefs, and Servers were excited because yesterday the NEW menu went public. I know personally every time I have talked about the new menu. I feel I need to jump into my car and rush to the Shore House to try the new items. They all sound so delicious.

“Readying to enter its fourth year, The Rams Head Shore House has evolved into the premier sea food restaurant in the area. A new menu and a new look will greet each guest at 800 Main Street in Stevensville, Maryland. New selections include Lobster and Corn Hushpuppies, Seafood Nachos and a new menu section,” From the Steam ” that includes mussels, shrimp Alaskan Snow crab legs and clams and oysters steamed or freshly shucked and served on the half-shell”, says Rams Head Shore House, General Manager, Keith Watson.

I asked Kathryn Singer, Shore House Manager what she had to say about the new menu. “The steamer section is what I’m most excited about. And, we have stuffed Lobster, Oysters Rock, Clams Casino!!”

I wanted to also say that the Rams Head Shore House just installed a brand new lobster tank that allows for patrons to select their very own lobster to be expertly prepared to order. With all the new offerings and the new look, there is still no mistaking that you are in your neighborhood Rams Head. A selection of over 100 bottled beers, Fordham Craft Brews on tap and the famous Rams Head hospitality are mainstays of The Shore House as it has evolved into a more complex and better form.

Hope to see you soon……..

Snoop Dogg On Sale Tomorrow… @ the R Hizzle Lizzle?

Yea, so I can’t speak izzle but I can tell you, despite my deficiencies I’m stoked for this show at the Rams Head Live on October 27th.  So of course the second my skinny white ass starts jumping around all excited for the show someone asks me to name 3 songs and I blank. I really couldn’t tell you 3 song names.

This is a stud pic.

This is a stud pic.

I felt like such a poser so I decided to go itune some action (yes, itune is a verb). I was right.  I did not know 1 song title, however, I knew every lyric. No lie. It was literally like I had studied it in school and knew all the concepts and forgotten the chapter.

I was pretty psyched to discover I am not a poser and although the moment had passed for me to truly spit my old school rap knowledge I had developed some fair peace of mind for myself.

Of the multiple songs I now realize I am familiar with are hundreds more.  Ten solo albums is indicative of several things.  1) You’ve got longevity, a clear sign of (ahem!) talent.  There seems to be some difficulty distinguishing the difference these days. 2) You’ve got content.  Once again, a rarity unless it’s being fed through an oversized index card.  And lastly, if I have not lost you yet, number 3) You’re not F-ing around.

Since Snoop is going to be around the B Mizzle, Muzzle? I will be front and center with my boat shoes on.  Maybe I moved away from my rap/hip hop roots but he is coming to town and when you’re good, you’re good, no question.

And on a philosophical note, don’t let anyone tell you what you know and do not know about music.  We all have different methods of intake and output and the beauty of sound is there is not always rhyme or reason but sometimes there is which is for you to decide.   So in that spirit check out some of these little diddies at his Official YouTube page. Saturday fun at the Rams Head Tavern…

Thank you everyone that got up super early and came to the Kegs and Eggs event @ Rams Head Tavern this past Saturday. We had a line out the door @ 7am. They were excited to get their free Rams Head Live ticket, .50 beers, and egg breakfast.

The whole day was a huge success and we wanted to share the fun with everyone that missed out. I could go on and on about how awesome the event was, how great the musicians(Kieran Lally, Corey Jenkins and Pressing Strings) were, and how much fun the customers were having. But, I sometimes think that pictures can tell 100 times more than words. So, thanks again to everyone and enjoy!
