Rocking out at Vfest!

Vfest1I started my Sunday by waking up @ 8am. Threw on some jeans, iron maiden t-shirt, and my black converse shoes. I was heading to Merriweather Post Pavilion for one of the biggest summer festivals, The Virgin Fest. I met up with Sarah our Rams Head Live Marketing Director to get everything set up for the Rams Head Live booth. Setting up was a journey in itself. 11am came pretty fast on us. And, it was time for the gates to open.  People were just running in, screaming, so excited. You wouldn’t believe who was in that same line with all those screaming fans, Richard Branson. If you don’t know who Richard Branson is, he is the founder of Virgin Records. A man, that started in the business when he was only 16 years old.

Rams Head Live booth was filled with free giveaways, and a chance to win tickets to a show at Rams Head Live. We had tons of rock n’roll fans stop by our tent the whole day. Telling us they were excited to see Blink 182, Weezer, Taking Back Sunday, Jet, or even Girl Talk. I can even remember there was a guy that was so excited about receiving a free Guy Clark CD. That he pretty much jumped over the table to give me a hug. You never want to mess with a music fan. Wink wink.

All day I was waiting for the Hold Steady to go on. So, while I was walking over to the West Stage. You wouldn’t believe who I ran into. I saw Flavor Flav from Public Enemy. Flav was wearing a huge clock around his neck. Yelling,”Ya boyyyyyy!” And, about 10mins later I saw Mark Hoppus from the punk rock band, Blink 182. I couldn’t believe how many Artists were just walking around and hanging out during the festival. The Hold Steady started their set. And, of course I felt like I was 16 again. I danced around, screaming to the words (even though, the night before I saw them play). So, after rocking out to the Hold Steady I walked back to the booth and yet again, there was Richard Branson doing an interview. So, I had to pretend to be a paparazzi and take his picture.

Over all, the festival was a lot of fun. As a music nerd, I really enjoyed working at the Rams Head booth, seeing some awesome bands, and meeting a bunch of music lovers.

Rams Head Tavern Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary

KegsnEggs09_RHTA_web2

Rams Head Tavern, located in Historic downtown Annapolis, is pleased to announce the celebration of 20 successful years in Annapolis Maryland. In celebration, Rams Head will open its doors at 7am on Saturday, September 19th for a company tradition of “Kegs n’ Eggs”. This event is always a party!

The Muehlhauser family first opened the doors of the Rams Head Tavern in December of 1989 by the Muehlhauser family as the 1st location for the Rams Head family of restaurants.  It’s hard to believe that 20 years ago our first location could only seat 30 customers (patio sat 10), employed a mere five and while still housing 100 world famous bottled beers - priorities. Over the past two decades The Annapolis Tavern has expanded and now can hold 354 patrons. In 1997, Rams Head added a music club, Rams Head On Stage which has since gained global recognition as the number one club of it’s size in the world. Vice President and World Beer Club member Erin McNaboe is quoted as saying, “There have been many changes in the Annapolis area, so we push to keep growing our business and thank everyone who has supported us along the way.”

Patrons are invited to spend the day at Rams Head Tavern with reduced drink pricing and an “egg” cellent breakfast special while enjoying the tunes of the local musicians.  This is Rams Head’s small way to say “THANK YOU” for years of loyalty from both their customers and the community.

Get a Load of RAR on the Road

So we asked Rest Among Ruins to send us a little diddy about life on the road… tourin and rousin and what not. I gave them little to no guidance and the below is what I got.  It’s a true testament to the fact that 1) these kids live like rock stars 2) this shit aint easy so mad respect and 3) we can’t wait for them to get their asses down here for some real rock star action with Periphery, Ninetail, Behold the Flood, Fallen Martyr and Beneath the Ruins tomorrow night, August 28 at the Rams Head Live. Listen Locally drink specials all night: $3 Bud and Budlight Drafts, $3 Rails, $2 Natural Light Cans. (Shameless plug, eat it and deal with it.)

Quality Road Camera. Like a 98 Nokia. (don't hate - it was the best one made)

This first pic guy is of RAR with “Diary of the Dead” from when we played in Florence, South Carolina.  That show may have been the biggest mind-fuck/stress-er of the whole tour haha.  We had already had an issue with one venue  in VA,  where we were supposed to play the night before.  The lease had run-out, so the owner decided to sell the place, and the new management canceled the show.  ”What the Maury Ballsteen?” we said, but whatever, the tour must go on.

SO the next show was booked at “The Cootie Hut” (I shit you not).  It was changed to “Irby’s” before the tour started, no big deal.  We got the address, put it into Betsy (the GPS), and headed off in our Tonka.  We spent the night before in Chapel Hill doing silly things and having a good time when we got an email that the show had been changed to the “The Boiler Room.” RAR looked at each other like, “First off, what happened last night?  Secondly, this whole switching venues thing is getting old.”  No worries though, we’ll just show up, do our thing, and have fun.

THEN, we got a phone call while pulling out of Fraternity Court.  It was Ron, drummer from “Diary of the Dead” aka badass.  The show had made one final change to a jazz club right down the street from “The Boiler Room.”  ”So Ron, how are people gonna know where the show is?”  ”Oh . . . they’ll figure it out (click).”  And what do you know . . . they did lol.  The show was awesome.  Despite the lack of AC, pools of sweat, and spilled alt beverages, the kids rocked out and made for what was prolly the best crowd we had all tour.  Florence, even though you’re hot as hell and your armies of homeless drug addicts are intimidating, you sure know how to rock ballz to the wallz.

Sexy...ish :)

Sexy...ish :)

This second pic is from last show of the tour in Greensboro, NorthCarolina of RAR with RAR-friends.  Phrase of that show:  Where are we sleeping tonight?  Oh life on the road.
